Public Health Nurse - Registered Nurse - Vaccine Program

FUNCTION

Lorain County Public Health is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse to function as a public health nurse.  Primary duties will be within the Vaccine Program. The RN will function within the scope of nursing under the direction of the Vaccine supervisor.

Primary Duties

1. Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team to safely provide age-appropriate vaccines to clients from birth through adulthood.
2. Administer vaccines according to current recommended vaccine guidelines and schedules and per standing medical orders.
3. Provide accurate vaccine information and counseling to clients and families in a culturally appropriate manner.
4. Maintain accurate vaccine inventory.
5. Maintain accurate electronic vaccine administration records.
6. Other Public Health Nurse duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with three (3) years of nursing experience preferred.

Must have clear oral and written communication skills, Spanish speaking preferred. Must have proficient computer skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be licensed registered nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Revised Code. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license with ongoing proof of auto insurance and be able to travel with reliable transportation. Current CPR certification. Able to lift up to 40 pounds. Proof of up-to-date vaccinations for healthcare providers or in process of completion. 

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time (40 hours/5 days per week) position with usual hours M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
