General Maintenance Worker

DESCRIPTION Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) is seeking to hire a part time General Maintenance Worker for 8 hours a week. Primary duties will be within the Admin Services Division with typical work to be done within our core business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 pm.

FUNCTION

Under the general direction of the Fiscal Admin Supervisor to perform basic repairs, general maintenance, and preventative care when required.

JOB DUTIES

  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Handling basic repairs
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them
  • Agency Vehicle maintenance
  • Custodial tasks as needed
  • Attend routine facilities meeting
  • All other duties as assigned

MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Proven maintenance experience.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Professional presentation and attitude.
  • Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
  • Strong time management skills.

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance

Physical Requirements and Unusual Working Conditions: Be able to lift objects of weight up to 40 - 50 pounds. This position is office-based at LCPH with minimum travel required. Must be able to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods of time.

Salary: $20.19 – $25.76
