Program Manager-School Health Nursing

Lorain County Public Health is providing an opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about School Health and committed to continuous quality improvement.

FUNCTION

Under the general direction of the Director of Community Health, assists the School Health supervisor with oversight, coordination, and functioning of the School Health Program.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Assist the supervisor in the growth and development of the School Health Program.
  2. Assist with quality assurance and program improvements.
  3. Review and develop school health processes and procedures.
  4. Assist with the development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of standard operating guidelines, school health and public health resources, and standing orders. 
  5. Maintain best practice guidelines for the school health program.
  6. Provide hands-on assistance and guidance for school nurses on site in the school clinics.
  7. Provide direct nursing care to students and staff of a school in the absence of the assigned school nurse
  8. May have a set school clinic assignment along with the Program Manager duties
  9. Assist in monitoring, tracking, and reporting of data.
  10. Assist with budgeting and effective use of program funds.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS

Must have: knowledge of child and adolescent health issues, growth and development, school health activities; clear and effective written and oral communication skills; proficient computer skills; health assessment and critical thinking skills. Must apply ethical standards, uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality according to HIPAA and FERPA.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is 40 hours/5 days per week position during the school year, and 24 hours/3days per week during summer break. Usual hours are M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional eveings and weekends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current State of Ohio Registered Nurse License; minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred. Possession of a valid driver’s license for the State of Ohio with reliable transportation and proof of insurance. Current CPR certification. Able to lift up to 40 pounds. Proof of up-to-date vaccinations for healthcare providers or in process of completion.  Able to wear and perform job duties in PPE for extended periods of time.

SALARY: $30.80 - $39.32
