WIC Clinic Health Aide

Description:  Lorain County Public Health is seeking to hire a full-time Clinic Health Aide in the WIC Division with a typical workday of Monday – Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 pm with evenings and weekends as needed.

FUNCTION

Under the direction of the WIC Director and the Director of Administrative Services, this role is employed to assist in clinic operations and help applicants through eligibility and WIC Nutrition Card processes. This individual will perform WIC support functions including but not limited to laboratory testing; client intake with demographics for WIC eligibility; issuance of WIC benefits; community referrals; and appointment scheduling.

JOB DUTIES

  • Knowledge of clinical and office equipment
  • Computer literate in Windows environment, report compilation, and medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate and relate to the public
  • Practice patient confidentiality
  • Schedule appointments in person and on the phone
  • Maintain detailed charts
  • Function according to agency and departmental policies
  • Reports upon directive in an emergency
  • Other responsibilities as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma

MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS

Knowledge of:  clinical and office equipment, computer literate in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, report compilation, and medical terminology.

Ability to:  communicate and relate to the public with positivity and patience; switch tasks quickly and efficiently; be a team player; open to cross-training; function according to agency and departmental policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal vehicle required. Local travel between clinics, or community sites as needed. Help a couple of times a year distributing WIC vouchers at a Saturday Farm Markets.

SALARY: $14.71-$18.77/hour
